Samsung launched 10.1″ and 8.9″ Galaxy Tab

 PTB's new post:

Samsung launched 10.1″ and 8.9″ Galaxy Tab in the country

Along with the Galaxy SII, Samsung also launched the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 8.9 last Wednesday. We featured the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 early last month and we were told that it would be available early June. Unfortunately, we just learned that it still won’t be available until by the end of July and the 8.9 version will follow a few weeks after.

The reason for the delay? Samsung upgraded the OS on both tablets to Android 3.1 and this would allow the 3G version to send and receive text messages and have support for microSD card (via an accessory). For some reason, we were told that calls aren’t possible yet with Honeycomb 3.1. Samsung also included their TouchWiz UI into the device to give it some distinction from other Honeycomb tablets. Initially, it was supposed to only have the bare Honeycomb UI.
Both the 10.1 and 8.9 Galaxy Tab have the same internals. Dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, 1280 x 800 display, 3MP rear camera with flash, 2MP front camera and a 16GB internal storage.

Personally, I think these new tablets look really nice and I also like how the UI is presented. The form and weight is just right for a tablet. Actually, even if it’s bigger than the iPad 2, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is lighter by around 37 grams. It follows the iPad 2 route though by limiting the ports on the device. There’s no microSD expansion slot nor an HDMI out. You can get accessories that you attach to its charging port if you want to use an HDMI cable or read from a USB stick or an SD card.

There’s also a charging dock / keyboard accessory (very first picture) if you’re going into some heavy typing. Then there’s the leather case which has a Bluetooth keyboard as well making your Galaxy Tab look like a slim netbook.
The 10.1 version (3G version only in the mean time) will be the first to be released by the end of July. Our source said it will have a price tag roughly the same as that of the Galaxy SII, Php29,990. As for the 8.9 version, expect it to be available by August with a price tag of around Php25,000 for the WiFi version. Samsung is still planning whether to bring in the 3G version.

iPhone 5 Coming?

Next iPhone to carry A5 and 8-megapixel camera, coming in September?

engadget new post:
iPhoneThe next version of the iPhone, dubbed by most to be the “iPhone 5,” will carry Apple’s A5 processor and sport an 8-megapixel camera, according to a report by Bloomberg News.
Two people familiar with the device’s plans told Bloomberg reporters that the phone would come out sometime in September, which is in line with most reports that Apple would release the device sometime this fall. The sources also said Apple is working on another version of the iPad that will feature a high-resolution screen like the one seen on the iPhone 4.
That phone is considered to have one of the best displays across mobile devices thanks to Apple’s “retina display” technology, which runs at 640 pixels by 960 pixels for the 3.5-inch device. Most modern smartphones run a display with a resolution of around 480 pixels by 800 pixels. The iPad 2 uses Apple’s A5 chip, a 1-gigahertz dual-core processor that is more powerful than the A4 chip featured in the iPhone 4. The A4 chip is a single-core chip that clocks in at around 800 megahertz.
Bloomberg’s sources also said the next iPhone would be similar in design to the iPhone 4, Apple’s current-generation smartphone that came out in July. There are wildly conflicting rumors about the design of the next iPhone. There were additional rumors early Tuesday that the iPhone 5  would feature a drastic redesign of the hardware of the phone. There have also been rumors that the next iPhone would only feature technical upgrades like the iPhone 3GS, and will be more like an “iPhone 4S” device.
Bloomberg’s report also indicated that the company was working on another iPhone that is cheaper and more accessible to lower-income customers. The iPhone 4 currently retails at $199 for a 16-gigabyte model and $299 for a 32-gigabyte model, and both require a contract with wireless providers AT&T and Verizon. That puts the phones out of the price range of many devices that run Google’s operating system, Android, which can cost as low as $50.
Apple currently sells an 8-gigabyte model of the iPhone 3GS, the phone manufacturer’s last generation phone, for $50 in order to hit that market point. But the phone is considered dated and it is already nearly two years old, while new Android devices come out daily that have better technical specifications than the iPhone 3GS and sport a similar price tag.

Motorola Xoom Android 3.1

Motorola Xoom gets Android 3.1 update that activates microSD card support outside the US

You know that microSD card slot that's been laying dormant in your Motorola Xoom? Provided you don't reside in the US, that'll be getting activated soon as part of the tablet's Android 3.1 update, which is starting to roll out now and should have all of Europe covered within the next few weeks. Motorola explicitly identifies this as a firmware update for "non-US" Xooms, so Canadians would be well advised to check their software update utility, though the big question is why didn't the American 3.1 update include microSD support as well? What tangled web of intrigue lies behind this selective activation?

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101-A1 10.1

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Tablet Has 16 Hour Battery

Looks like Asus couldn’t decide whether it wanted to make a tablet or a netbook, so it made both. The Eee Pad Transformer is a tablet which docks itself to a hinged keyboard and offers a long, long battery life of 16 hours.
It will be very interesting to see if this actually works. The tablet component uses the 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, has 1GB RAM, a Gorilla Glass multitouch screen (10.1 inches), 1.2 and 5MP cameras, gyroscope, compass, GPS and so on. The keyboard is little more than a dock with a trackpad and battery (without the dock, the battery life drops to 9.5 hours).
It seems like a great idea, but I wonder just how well the Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS plays with keyboard and trackpad. Anyone who has teamed the iPad up with an external keyboard knows that it works great if you have some text to type, but anything else is a pain. The OS just isn’t designed to be controlled with a keyboard.
Still, if you’re going to carry a keyboard with you, the extra battery life is nice.
Prices are still unannounced, as are U.S launch dates, but you can see a full spec sheet in the linked press release, and if you live in Taiwan, you can pick one up today.

Glock 17 Standard 3Gen

Here is my new FA G17 USA.

So I enjoy my Glock 17 for 2 days bago ako umalis ulit sa ating
bansa.Sa isang OFW na katulad ko proud to be a Gun Owner of
